The definition of a good parent

While arguing a different point about strip searches, Jonah Goldberg hits what may be the difference between a good parent and a bad parent:
Also, for the record, should my daughter get caught at a drug dealer's house and it turns out that the warrant was overly broad and that technically the cops weren't authorized to have a female cop search her in a separate room, my reaction will not be "Damn this police state!" It will be, "What the hell were you doing at a drug dealer's house!?"

That people think my reaction should be otherwise truly baffles me.
How many parents, in trying to be their kids' friend, would have chosen to be mad at the cops in this hypothetical? Too many I think.

Kinda puts Gwen Moore and her kid getting arrested for tire slashing into perspective, don'cha think?
