Yeah, but, but...

Jonah Goldberg brings up an uncomfortable point:

I do not like Arlen Specter. But I think many of the most dire predictions, made by conservatives (including by me) during the Toomey-Specter primary contest, about what a bad Judiciary Chairman Specter would be simply haven't materialized. I'd rather have a Senator Toomey. But I think Hugh Hewitt & Co. were more right than wrong on this narrow point. Specter did a very good job helping get Roberts and Alito through the committee and he deserves to be praised for it. If I knew how to say "Thanks" in medieval Scottish, I would.
