Not to keep beating a dead horse, but...

Jay Bullock has been running around frantically to every conservative bloggers' comments section trying to claim the story that the Democrats would just throw out thousands of flags used at their convention can't possibly be true. A few commenters here have echoed that sentiment, and then cited as evidence:

1) The Huffington Post.
2) The past sins of Carl Cameron.
3) The denial by the DNC.

As always, do you believe the DNC, or do you believe your own eyes?

Now, I had thought the original story was worth a few cheap shots (and I took them). But I'll let you be the judge. Doesn't look like "storage" for later use to me.

Almost forgot, ht: a commenter at Badger Blogger.

Update! In an e-mail, Jay Bullock points out the flags in the garbage in the pictures are not from the stadium, but from the convention hall. Apparently there's some sort of special dispensation for Democrats to completely mistreat the flag at the convention hall. Silly me, I didn't know. Of course, we still don't know why the flags at the stadium were being kept in garbage bags next to the dumpsters (excuse me, "storage"). However, I didn't know that was considered proper flag etiquette either.

Flag just another discarded prop

When the Democrats were done waiving their American flags for the television cameras, thousands of flags were just tossed into the trash at Invesco Field. They probably are only good as souvenirs if they have Obama's seal in place of the fifty stars.

You would have thought that someone in the Democratic Party would have said to themselves, "If we hand out all of these flags, how do we collect them?" Given the liberals' "reuse-recycle" mantra, they could have saved them for the next flag-burning hippy protest or something.

Here's some advice to the Obama campaign, next time you're handing out something to wave to your hippy-dippy crowd of supporters, hand out coupons for showers at the local truck stop.

Did I watch the Democratic National Convention tonight?

Are you kidding? Turner Classic Movies was having an Ingrid Bergman night. I don't care if it was Jack Kennedy risen from the grave. I'll watch Casablanca, Spellbound, and Notorious instead.

By the way, she would have been 91 today.

Will Hillary drive Obama to drink?

You could have a single-rule drinking game for the Democratic Convention. Just have everyone sip a beer when the word "change" is mentioned. You could even make the game deadly by adding a shot every time "the rich" are mentioned. (I suggest something top shelf for the occasion.)

However, some enterprising soul has suggested "The Great Democrat Buzz Word Drinking Game." I'm just going to give you what I consider to be the "Hillary" line,
1/2 Shot Whiskey or Vodka
“The Most Vulnerable Americans”
“Bush’s War”
The “Top” 1%” or “Richest” 1%
“Torture”
Benefit “Cuts”

Of course, I can't picture Senator Clinton only doing half a shot.

Perhaps while the Democrats are visiting Denver they might want to visit the Coors Brewery. Leave the union cards back at the hotel, please.

And what would a Friday Afternoon Cocktail Democratic Convention Preview be without a beer drinking donkey?

For those of you watching at home, here's a more tame concoction from the Webtender:

Donkey Punch
Ingredients:
3 parts Orange juice
2 parts Ginger ale
1 part Pineapple juice
1 part Light rum (Bacardi)
1/4 part Grenadine
Mixing instructions:
Mix all ingredients in a punchbowl and float orange slices on top.

Creator/contributor's comments:
Favorite punch of Trinity College in Hartford, Connecticut. The name originates from the fact that when drunken everybody becomes stupider than a jackass!

Deep fry free

What is happening to the world when you can't discuss politics over a beer, cigars, a greasy cheeseburger and french fries? Next thing you know the Democrats will ban beer and hookers at their national convention:
As part of the effort to make the August 25-28 convention the greenest ever, the Democrats' guidelines for food catering include one that strikes at the heart of Southern cuisine: no fried food.

No fried chicken. No fried catfish. No fried green tomatoes. No fried okra. No fried anything.

In promoting healthy eating habits, the Democratic guidelines say every meal should be nutritious and include "at least three of the following colors: red, green, yellow, purple/blue and white."

"It's the new patriotism," says Denver Mayor John Hickenlooper, the driving force behind the greening of the Democratic convention.

Somebody tell Mayor Nelson he better pack a cooler.
