For richer, for richer

When the Lovely Doreen from Waukesha and I were planning our wedding, I suggested we send with the invitations a contribution envelope where the invitee could simply indicate on the envelope the amount of their gift and the number of people attending (if any). Just like getting an invitation to a political fundraiser.

For reasons I never understood, she vetoed my suggestion.

Had I known about this innovation in cash-grabbing technology, I might have insisted we have one of these at the church and the reception (right next to the bar).

I probably would have lost on this one, too. After all, has any groom had any say in their own wedding?

An example of what I was talking about

I find it hard to believe that holding weddings in this setting is so disruptive to the community that the owner is being denied a conditional use permit and is actually getting fined for the violations.

Update! After reading this, I hope she sells it to a developer who turns it into low-income rental units as far as the eye can see.

Tip: meet the family before he pops the question

I gotta sympathize with the bride on this one.

A Waukesha woman is suing her prospective daughter-in-law for $1,100 in expenses the woman paid toward a wedding that never took place between her son and the would-be bride. Laurel Oberthaler of Waukesha filed suit May 6 against Jennifer Wilson, who was engaged to be married to Oberthaler’s son, Mike; the wedding was to take place Sept. 8 but was nixed last August, nine days after a hall was booked.

"I'm sorry but I just met your mother and the wedding is off."

Cheddarsphere prayers and well-wishes

Congratulations to Mr. & Mrs. Still Unreal on their marriage.

This song is for you:

Meanwhile, the Wigderson family would like offer our thoughts and prayers for some of our blogging friends who are going through some personal trials.

Jay Bullock's dad has been in the hospital.
My dad is doing better. He's breathing on his own again and responsive and alert and recognizing people. He was even able to point when his doctor asked him where it hurt. We're still in the woods, but everyone is so much more upbeat today. We have no diagnosis yet, though.

Phelony Jones' father has cancer.
In life there is no such thing as a redo. The Undo function only exists in windows. Focus on what is important, not on what you think you "have" to do.

Good luck to both of them.
