When the Lovely Doreen from Waukesha and I were planning our wedding, I suggested we send with the invitations a contribution envelope where the invitee could simply indicate on the envelope the amount of their gift and the number of people attending (if any). Just like getting an invitation to a political fundraiser.
For reasons I never understood, she vetoed my suggestion.
Had I known about this innovation in cash-grabbing technology, I might have insisted we have one of these at the church and the reception (right next to the bar).
I probably would have lost on this one, too. After all, has any groom had any say in their own wedding?
