Funny, I thought the whores worked for the state department

As part of the effort to crack down on human trafficking, the State Department has ordered their staff not to hire prostitutes.

The notice sent to employees states:

“Combating human trafficking has become a central component of U.S. government foreign policy over the last several years…

“The United States is committed to eradicating human trafficking, which includes the exploitation of persons in prostitution through threat, force, fraud, or coercion…

“People who buy sex acts fuel the demand for sex trafficking. This cable serves as a reminder to all employees and contractors under Chief of Mission (CoM) Authority that irrespective of whether prostitution is legal in the host country, employees
should not in any way abet sex trafficking or solicit people in prostitution. DOS [Department of State] employees who engage in this conduct are subject to discipline.

Normally discipline costs extra.

But seriously, if a governor is engaged in behavior that is putting someone else at risk of physical harm, isn't it incumbent on the media to ask what that behavior is? There seems to be a lack of profiles in courage among the press corps, for not one article I have seen mentions the type of behavior that would cause a prostitute's controlling agent to ask whether the encounter occurred without incident or harm. Aside from the prurient interest (I'm not going to lie) surely there might be some clue why Spitzer would risk everything at such financial cost for a brief encounter.

Drug dealers, prostitutes, pimps, illegals -- everybody has to pay the tax at the retail level -- so right now those billions of dollars, that people like you and me are having to make up for, 'cause other folks are working under the table, now everybody's paying into the system. That's one of the reasons that it really is a fair tax.

Drug dealers? Prostitutes? Pimps? We'll somehow start collecting sales taxes from them? What planet is this guy from?
