The revolt of the turnips

I think the Waukesha Taxpayers Alliance deserves special credit for a job well done in defeating the Waukesha school referendum. The referendum failed by a 67 percent to 33 percent margin, according to the Waukesha Freeman.
Human resource committee Chairwoman Patricia Madden said the district will find a way to provide current programs to the best of its ability.

"You always survive," Madden said. "People always pick up the losses and rework the programs."
The word for today is vigilance. The pro-referendum forces will be back, and probably soon.
Board President Bill Baumgart said another referendum question could be coming soon.

"The plans for 2006-07 can only get worse," Baumgart said. "At some point we are going to have to ask again or we are going to have to cut more programs."
Cut away Bill. There’s a lot of fat on this calf.
