Milwaukee County Parks Director Sue Black has won a national award for her work advancing parks and recreation locally.
The award will be presented by the American Academy for Parks and Recreation and the National Recreation and Parks Association at their annual conference in October. Black's selection for the organization's ROSE award - it stands for Recognition of Significant Efforts - was confirmed Tuesday by Jackie Wallenstein, of the parks association.
This comes on top of an earlier announcement:
The county parks system also is a finalist this year for the association's gold medal award, for best managed park system in the U.S. That pick will be announced at the October conference.
Hard to complain about a crumbling park system when it's running up awards. Guess Doyle's surrogates will have to cancel those commercials.
