...isn't there clearly some significance in the fact that she lives with a member of the MTEA? In that sense, she really did need to go public, so that this conflict of interest could be disclosed.It would be ironic if her choice of partner would result in her resigning from the school board, not because of her status as a Latina Lesbian, but because the conflicts of interest would be too great.

MPS School Board member Jennifer Morales has come out of the closet (although, it was hard to believe she was ever in) and announced she's a lesbian. As Rick Esenberg points out, there's a definite requirement she "out" herself, although not for the reasons her defenders would give:
