Fraley out, but blogging

Political consultant Brian Fraley is filling in over at Boots and Sabers, getting some practice in before launching his own blog in January. His first post, announcing he is not running for State Senate against incumbent State Senator Tom Reynolds.

I realize that in the wake of the gas tax indexing repeal, many will speculate that my ‘decision’ was based on Senator Tom Reynolds’ recent legislative success. That’s a logical conclusion, but it’s not accurate.

I think Brian made his decision before Reynolds' recent legislative successes (given it was announced he was starting a blog), but Reynolds' successes of late made it easy for him not to change his mind. We can safely end any discussion of Senator Reynolds facing a primary challenge.

I wish Brian a long and happy future as a blogger and a consultant. With any luck, if/when he does want to run for public office, an open seat will pop up somewhere.
