Lauren Bacall weighs in on Tom Cruise, the phenomenon,
in the latest Time Magazine, "It's inappropriate and
vulgar and absolutely unacceptable to use your private
life to sell anything commercially," Bacall said.
"It's kind of a sickness."
The report helpfully adds, "She doesn't say if she's
referring to his jumping up and down on Oprah
Winfrey's couch, his public displays of affection with
Katie Holmes or his feud with Brooke Shields over
antidepressants."
How about any or all of the above?
Hollywood is a long way away from the days of Bogie
and Bacall, and it's poorer for it.
