King Fahd of Saudi Arabia has died and has been succeeded by his half-brother Abdullah as expected. Fahd ruled one of the most oppressive regimes in Middle East. Its only redeeming values are that it sells oil and is somewhat friendly to the United States.
Fahd made a pact with the devil upon inheriting the throne, funding the retrograde and repressive Wahhabi movement and it's expansion within Islam. In exchange Fahd hoped that he purchased the stability needed to protect the family business of running a totalitarian state.
Fifteen of the nineteen terrorists on September 11, 2001 were Saudi Arabians, products of Fahd's educational largesse.
We suspect, as hot as Riyadh gets in July, Fahd is heading to a warmer clime.
