The Tavern League of Wisconsin was fined $2,500.00 today for undercharging state legislature members for food and beverage at an event, according to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. Hours after the event, State Senator Russ Decker (d) was pulled over for drunk driving.
Man, did they screw up.
As any UW-Milwaukee house party “host” can tell you, never ever provide food. Six half barrels of beer, a $5 cover charge and you’re set for rent the next month. Just make sure to keep someone in charge of the cups, someone watching for the cops (or State Ethics Board), and someone sober to make sure everyone gets home safely so you can have another party again next month. Oh, and it helps if there’s more than one bathroom so the guys aren’t using the alley, which usually attracts police attention.
Make sure you have plenty of towels and cleaning supplies for after the party.
