Seeing live examples of extinct animals rare

From the Associated Press:
The discovery of living examples of an animal believed to be extinct is rare, said Tess Present, director of science at the National Audubon Society. "Wow," she said. "This is tremendous."
She is referring to the Ivory-billed Woodpecker, long thought extinct, apparently found in Arkansas making a nest out out of old Rose Law Firm billing records.

No word yet on how the bird tastes. Since it has an ivory beak, maybe we can offer the bird as a substitute for ivory-seeking elephant hunters.
