What to do, what to do, what to do.
1) ignore any babble about larger societal sociological implications. Deal with this issue here and now.
2) Arrest that man. Yup. If he were on a playground and involved in a pick-up basketball game, and he so happened to get a beer thrown at him, and he ran over to a possible offender (still not sure why Artest picked the guy with a beer cup still in his hand) and then rammed his face into a chair, I guarantee that he would be facing jail time.
Now, jail time (we're told) for 40% of the NBA is apparently a major resume item next to their high school...um... pictures. Given that some of the players came straight to the NBA from high school, this means that a few probably were able to save money by using their felony mug shots for their high school yearbook.
Given that, I recognize that felony convictions may not be the deterrent they once were. But, while this fact may confuse the New York Times if Artest is behind bars then he isn't physically assaulting the season ticket holders.
3) Arrest That Man II: Any fan shown on the video tape as violating the law should be prosecuted. End of story.
4) Don't let the Pacers fill their roster. Maybe a few forfeits will send a message to the rest of the NBA.
