Robbing us of our writes

There is a movement afoot to rob us of our ability to write-in whomever we please for public office. It is our right as citizens to indicate our disgust with the choices offered on the ballot by writing in someone else as a protest. When I lived in Milwaukee County, often the only choices on the ballot were Democrats, usually incompetent. Now I live in Waukesha County, and the situation is not quite reversed, but I am stuck with the odious Paul Bucher. (A horse should whinney at this point.) Why should I be forced to vote for him? Should New Berlin residents have been forced to vote for Mary Lazich? But a vote, for somebody, anybody else, registers a protest of the paucity of good candidates.
