Plus incentives. Tom "reliable source" Haudricourt reports that the deal between the Brewers and reliever Trevor Hoffman is completed, and Hoffman is expected to earn $6 million, plus another possible $1.5 million in incentives, this year. It is only a one-year deal.
I really have a hard time seeing any downside to this move by the Milwaukee Brewers. If he's not any good, you haven't broken the bank. If he's as good as he was last year (not his best year) he's still worth every penny. Given his style of pitching, his arm might last him longer than other short relievers.
