Does this mean the "Free Michael" crowd can go back to rioting for non-existent food stamps at the Coggs center and their friends a bunch of hand-wringing liberals with no sense of perspective find some other pet cause while the rest of us can feel a little bit safer knowing an extortionist who makes physical threats regarding witnesses in his trial is on his way to a nice federal jail cell?

A federal jury in Milwaukee has found former Ald. Michael McGee Jr. guilty on nine federal charges, including five counts of bribery, three counts of extortion and one count of attempting to avoid reporting requirements for a $15,000 wire transfer. The verdict was announced shortly before 9:30 p.m. Tuesday night, after roughly six hours of deliberation.

McGee, who looked straight ahead as the verdict was read, faces up to 30 years in prison. He will remain in custody until his sentencing, which is set for Oct. 24.

By the way. It's official. We can call the Alderman a "thug."

To close his rebuttal, Wall played a six-minute slide show of McGee's alleged victims with audio of McGee allegedly demanding money and planning and discussing extortion activities with others.

The tape ended with McGee telling an associate that he could be called Michael, Mike, or "thug Mike."
