I'm sympathetic to parents who don't want their child's school to close, but the Waukesha school district has an over capacity problem with building space. Even if the school district goes to referendum, the school district still has too much classroom space for the number of students in the Waukesha school district. Facilities cost money to heat, cool, and maintain, even when they're underutilized or not used at all.
I am not sympathetic with city aldermen like Alderman Vitale who ignore the real problems of the school district and pretend the schools should be kept open. Of course, Vitale is still clinging to city ownership of the Prairie Home Cemetary.
