How to tell when you should stop reading something

When it begins, "This article synthesizes several extant arguments that have appeared on Open Left into a new hypothesis."

Somebody should smash his computer keyboard with a copy of Webster's Unabridged Dictionary before he types again. It's a crime against humanity to expect people to read a sentence like that. The next sentence is even worse.
