"Scheider was the only person I cast immediately, the minute he came into my office. The only thing I'd seen Roy in before was a Jean Genet play in which he played a cigar-smoking nun." - William Friedken

RIP Roy Scheider, 75
Actor Roy Scheider has died. He was 75 years old. Scheider was most famous for his role in Steven Spielberg's "Jaws" but his first academy award nomination came from "The French Connection" as Detective Buddy Russo. Scheider's more understated character was the perfect sidekick to the flamboyant Popeye Doyle (Gene Hackman), but at the same time Scheider kept it believable the two characters were partners.
