Waukesha City Administrator Lori Luthor started her new job yesterday. Unlike her predecessor, Luthor is an at-will employee of the Common Council, subject to removal by a majority vote, a definite improvement over the previous situation.
During her time here, The Wigderson Library and Pub shall be her strongest friend when she does good and her fiercest critic when she does not, even as I continue to advocate the abolition of her job. She faces many challenges, including ruling a city with a bunch of unruly bloggers. Many residents in the city have an unreasonable expectation of government, including many of the aldermen. There is wasteful spending in the budget. There is a false assumption that taxpayers will happily pay more for more services.
On the up side, Waukesha has great potential and we may be watching a rebirth of the downtown - maybe. I wish her the best of luck in her new position.
Now about that idiot helicopter that landed in my neighborhood yesterday around 9:30 AM...
