RIP Max McGee

Former Green Bay Packer player and announcer Max McGee died Saturday in an apparent household accident at his home in Deephaven, MN. He was 75. McGee may be most remembered for Super Bowl I, not only for his performance on the field (7 catches, 138 yards, 2 touchdowns), but for his partying the night before. McGee was also a successful businessman who was a co-founder of the Chi-Chi's restaurant chain.

As a color man on the Green bay Packer radio broadcasts, McGee had a knack for sounding like one of the fans in the booth, albeit a knowledgeable fan, and was part of a team with Jim Irwin that led many Packer fans to mute the sound on their television sets and listen to the radio while watching the game.
