In Poland, a man woke up after nineteen years of being in a coma and being cared for by his wife. He went into a coma a year before the Berlin Wall fell. When he went into a coma, we had a Democratic Congress trying to undermine the foreign policy of a president, Russia was building missiles and complaining about the US missile defense program, and Ed Garvey was an old lefty crank.

Boy, things have really changed.

But imagine what he's waking up to. Freedom of the press. Membership in NATO. Capitalism. Freedom to travel. A German Pope (better give him a drink before you tell him that one). A choice of paint colors. Paul McCartney's latest album. Starbucks. McDonalds.

The best part, he got to sleep through Britney Spears' whole career.

The downside, he's got 19 years of household chores to catch up on.
