WEBER MOVES UP: Before we forget entirely about the winter 2007 Arbitron radio ratings that came out in May, it's worth a look into the demographic breakdowns for an interesting change for WISN midday guy Jay Weber.Jay Weber has been a personal favorite of mine even when he hosted the Morning Show on WISN with Bob Dolan. Jay's show is fresh and often carries other topics than what the other morning talk shows are talking about. Jay is also very down to earth and is very personable. Not to mention that he brings up other lifestyle issues other than politics. I was a recent caller on his show Thursday May 31st where Jay was talking about a certain study showing that men cannot grocery shop. Of course, it was my duty to stick up for my husband who is extremely frugal not to mention downright cheap when it comes to grocery shopping. I am a frequent caller on his show and cannot begin my day without Jay on the Radio.
Looking at listeners ages 25 to 54, Weber is in a photo finish with Charlie Sykes over on WTMJ. Both shows air from 8:30 a.m. to noon weekdays.
Sykes has a 5.3% share of available listeners, while Weber has 5.2%.
It's just one ratings book. But it is a sign that Weber, a 17-year WISN veteran, is catching on among key listeners as a solo talker. His former partner Bob Dolan has moved on to his own TV production company.
Numbers like this mean it's not out of the question that WISN could move Weber into a more important timeslot.
It is no surprise to me that Jay has moved up in the ratings. Check him out if you have not already done so. He gives great voice :-)
