Wisconsin Supreme Court Justice-elect Annette Ziegler reached a settlement with state officials that will bring to an end a conflict-of-interest complaint filed against her, according to the legal counsel for the State Ethics Board.Meanwhile, the judicial investigation continues.
The settlement resolves a complaint by the board that claimed Ziegler violated conflict-of-interest laws when she presided over five cases as a Washington County judge involving a bank where her husband was a paid director.
Ziegler admitted on Wednesday afternoon to a violation of the law, paid a $5,000 forfeiture and will pay the board costs for the prosecution, which will likely total about $12,000, attorney Jonathan Becker said in a news release.
