So when Jeromy Burnitz stepped to the plate with nobody on and two outs and proceeded to crush the ball over the centerfield fence, My Baby and I couldn't contain our excitement. We screamed at the top of our lungs, hugged, jumped up and down in each other's arms, and enjoyed every moment of Bernie's slide. It was at least a few full minutes later before we noticed everybody else in the stands watching us quizzically as we celebrated what was now a 10-1 game.Somehow I don't think anyone is going to remember fondly a Bernie Brewer slide in a game the team lost 10-1 seventeen years later. Either get rid of the slide, or bring back the mug of beer.
