No corner of the Earth is beyond my reach

I think I may have screwed up in reverse. From the Rio Rancho Observer:
The Rio Rancho City Council is likely to vote on a new city manager at its next meeting April 25, and the appointee will probably be Arlington, Texas Deputy City Manager Ron Olson.

Mayor Kevin Jackson said he expected to reach an agreement with Olson by next Sunday, all but ensuring he will take over operations of Rio Rancho. He would still need council approval before he officially takes over.
Apparently they might have taken my assessment of Payne into account:
Another candidate, Jim Payne, was also known as a budget whiz in his duties as city administrator for Waukesha, Wis., according to reporters from the Waukesha Freeman.

Payne also landed Waukesha on the CNN/Money Magazine Top 100 list of cities at No. 36 - 20 spots higher than Rio Rancho.

Payne did receive some flak from Waukesha Freeman columnist James Wigderson, who described him as the mayor's boss and criticized him for his absence during a snowstorm last December.
For the record, I don't think I criticized him for being out of town during the snowstorm which was royally screwed up by the city. But given Payne's claims of accomplishment and the Mayor's opinion of himself, it's nice to know we live in the Lake Woebegone of Wisconsin where everyone in city government is above average. Unfortunately for Payne we get to keep his services a little while longer.
