My Waukesha Freeman column is available online. It's my take on the amendment to ban gay marriage in Wisconsin. I have heard all the arguments, looked at the different sides of the debate, and I am urging a "yes" vote on the amendment.
Not exactly surprising, I know.
In the end, I just did not see the case to oppose the amendment, and I had plenty of reasons to support the amendment. The concerns over the "second clause" proved to be hollow. This left the anti-amendment side with arguments that not only opposed the amendment but were also indicators of a larger agenda to overturn the marriage law as it stands now.
I'm not ready to support that sort of cultural nihilism, and I'm hoping Wisconsin's voters will agree with me.
