Hello? Is it me you're looking for?

Bill Christofferson was out all day, so he missed some very important phone calls.

Many years ago, a couple of us we're getting together some last minute funding to do a last minute direct mail "get out the vote effort." We bumped into somebody else who was doing the same thing for a last minute phone effort. "We're hitting sixteen percent" he cheerfully told us.

"We're going to hit 100%," we cheerfully replied.

That was twelve years ago, before voice mail and caller id became really popular. Who is even listening now, beyond "Hi my name is Tommy Thompson..." CLICK.

Honestly, the only justification for doing phones the last day before an election is to make sure the cacophony drowns out any message by your opponent.
