It’s not often I get to do a full column about drinking so I better take advantage while I can. As you may have heard, possibly from your favorite bartender, Milwaukee was recently named by Forbes Magazine as the No. 1 city in America for drinking. And when they say Milwaukee, they not only mean beer, they mean west of 124th Street, too.
This isn’t exactly shocking to the Wigderson clan. Before a certain age, our elders warn us of the horrors of Demon Rum. After a certain age, the elders of the family begin to share drinking stories, often complete with the brand names that caused trouble.
When my children reach college age I shall try to warn them about the dangers of alcohol and how I aspired to the bar, only to fall off the stool.
