Who would've thought we missed Art Jones?

Jessica McBride points out Milwaukee Police Chief Nan Hegerty is getting a pass where her predecessor, former police chief Art Jones, didn't. Remember the outcry over the dismantling of the gang crimes unit and getting rid of the leather jackets? The current chief got rid of the Violent Crime Task Force shortly after she was sworn-in, went after Milwaukee's taverns for overcrowding and has compiled a worse record than her predecessor.

The police can't do everything. Prosecutors actually have to pursue long sentences and judges actually have to give long sentences to keep criminals of the street. But the police are the front line defence of the community, and right now they are failing in Milwaukee.

How long does Hegerty get a pass?
