When the Democrats returned home Monday, they got a second shock: Doyle administration procurement official Georgia Thompson was convicted of two felonies for pushing the state travel contract to Adelman Travel, whose executives had donated $20,000 to the Doyle campaign.
As is often the case with the Doyle campaign for re-election, this isn’t what was supposed to happen. This was the week for stem cells for everybody, even if Doyle has to clone them himself. I think there was even a plan to have a stem cell Pez dispenser.
Instead, Doyle found himself again answering questions about the state travel contract, the $20,000 in Adelman money, administration contacts during the bidding process and the status of former Department of Administration Secretary Marc Marotta (current Doyle campaign chairman).
