Lucy, one of the oldest African elephants in captivity at 46, has been eating maple shoots and leaves and taking in water, zoo spokeswoman Jennifer Diliberti reported this afternoon.

Outlook on Lucy not quite so grim
The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel is reporting Lucy the Elephant is showing signs of improvement. She's eating and drinking again.
