I have from a very reliable source that State Representative Ann Nischke (R-97th) is not running for re-election. I do not have confirmation yet from her campaign.
Nischke, you may recall, lost the Waukesha Mayoral election to Democrat Larry Nelson in a stunning upset earlier this year. The 97th assembly district actually takes up much of the city and town of Waukesha and is normally considered a safe seat for Republicans.
Among those considering a run to replace Nischke would have to include County Supervisor Bill Kramer. County Supervisor Andy Kallin probably would have considered running, but given his poor health I would say it is unlikely he will run.
Nomination papers are due July 11th.
Before anyone asks, no, I am not planning on running.
