They used to be put into straitjackets. Now they're running for office.

Paul Hackett, Democrat candidate for the US Senate in Ohio, has a problem grasping reality. I'm not a doctor, but I'm willing to freely endorse heavy medication for anyone who says,
"The Republican Party has been hijacked by the religious fanatics that, in my opinion, aren't a whole lot different than Osama bin Laden and a lot of the other religious nuts around the world."

The good news is that he stands by his comment, so there's no denying he's certifiable. The bad news is there's a chance he may even get the Democrat nomination. Where's Jerry Springer when you need him?

But it's kinda funny that Hackett should compare a political party with Osama Bin Laden, and say they are so similar. I think maybe, just maybe, he meant to say the other party. After all, as The Madison Freedom Fighter points out, sometimes finding the Bin Laden statement in a list of quotations of some serious lefties is a harder trick than you might think.
