Madison recall effort officially launched

Dream Lanes Bowling Alley may be the birthplace of a renaissance in Madison as the Libertarian Party and Citizens for Responsible Government launched their efforts to recall Madison Mayor Dave Cieslewicz. They are apparently short money and volunteers, according to The Capital Times.

The desire for recall began with the smoking ban in bars and restaraunts, and now seems to embrace every issue under the sun, including the types of city councilmen currently serving and whther or not a landlord can ask for a social security number.

I know I'll draw some flak for this, but I hope the recall effort fails.

There are no allegations of the mayor personally profiting from his policies, no allegations of corruption. No, I couldn't stand to live under that mayor and that common council, but that's why I live in Waukesha. The people of Madison get what they deserve, and they vote in wacky leftists year after year, some wackier than others.

If there is to be a true renaissance in Madison, a new appreciation for personal liberty and a respect for property rights, it will only come when the people of Madison are ready for it. That means years of building an opposition to the current regime. The recall organizers couldn't even get the Tavern League on board this time, and it's their ox getting gored.

So, if you'll excuse me, I'll cheer for the mayor in this one, knowing full well he'll only make things in our state capital worse.
