Insight Check

Sean at the American Mind has been giving Charlie Sykes tips on what to have on his show.

My turn! My turn!

What great irony did Stacy Forster of the Journal Sentinel miss when she spoke to Ed Garvey about his support for drunk driver State Attorney General Peg Lautenschlager?

Here's the excerpt:
Ed Garvey, a former Democratic candidate for governor and a Lautenschlager supporter, said it's inevitable that some people won't be able to get past Lautenschlager's conviction when they go to the ballot box. But those who see it as a mistake - one that she apologized for - are more willing to focus on her work fighting to protect consumers and the environment, he said.

"None of us can claim sainthood," Garvey said.
I'll give you a hint: Ed Garvey ran against Senator Bob Kasten in 1986 in one of the nastiest campaigns in state history. Don't remember? Ed Garvey attacked Senator Kasten for being arrested for drunk driving in Washington D.C. The Garvey campaign even had a slogan, "A Senator You Could Be Proud Of!"

And now Peg Lautenschlager's supporters are defending her by citing Bob Kasten as an example!
