“Last month, the voters of Waukesha County overwhelmingly elected Dan Vrakas as our new County Executive. The campaign was about TABOR and freezing property taxes. On Tuesday, the County Board passed the 2006 budget with a $2.8 million increase in the levy. This vote by the Waukesha County Board is just one more example of politicians totally ignoring the plea of taxpayers to stop the endless string of tax increases. The League also singled out for praise the following County Supervisors for voting against the budget: Morris, Tortamasi, Stroud, Hutton and Singert.
The Waukesha Taxpayer League encourages County Executive Vrakas to use his veto power to cut the tax increase and deliver a more taxpayer-friendly budget in 2006, and we question why Waukesha County Supervisors who backed Dan Vrakas and proclaim to be fiscal conservatives voted to increase the property tax burden on homeowners. The WTL plans on being actively involved in Waukesha County Board races in the 2006 election cycle, and will use budget and veto-override votes to determine which Supervisors are taxpayer-friendly and which ones should be replaced.”
Conspicuously missing from this list, candidate for State Assembly County Supervisor Jim Behrend.
