I know some will tell me we should all pull together in a troubled time like this. That this is not a time for partisan rancor. That the devastation was too wide, too deep, for any single department to cope with.
And then some will point their finger at the top, at the president himself. Some, in a more partisan spirit, will point out calamities like this never happened under previous administrations. Others will blame various members of the administration.
I will place the blame where it belongs. The blame falls on the shoulders of one man: Mike Sherman. It was Sherman who selected most of players on the field today. It was Sherman who was in direct command and control of the situation with catastrophic results. And finally, it is Sherman who is responsible for a coaching staff clearly not up to the task of coaching an NFL team.
Some blame can go to Packer President Bob Harlan. Some blame can go to the Packers Board of Directors. But ultimately there is one person out there running the team. It’s time to fire Mike Sherman.
