Does the ACLU know about this?

The New Orleans Police Department is using *gasp* tribunals to examine the cases of 249 police officers who were absent without permission during Hurricane Katrina.

Update! The Chief of the New Orleans Police Department has decided to resign. The aptly named Eddie Compass was quoted as saying, "I'll be going on in another direction that God has for me."

New Orleans Mayor and sometime-Dallas-resident Ray Nagin apparently suffered a bump on his head prior to the press conference. "He leaves the department in pretty good shape and with a significant amount of leadership."

249 officers are facing a tribunal for abandoning their posts and their oaths to protect the City of New Orleans.
