Wesminster Abbey officials have refused to allow the movie based on Dan Brown's novel The Da Vinci Code to be filmed at the Abbey. The book has been denounced as "theologically unsound" by church officials. (Someone please send the memo to Peter Jennings at ABC News.)
For the curious, there's some detailed refutation of Brown's claims at this site. Brown's promoting his novel as revealing a vast conspiracy concerning the nature of Christ is nothing short of blasphemous and is a terrible hoax to play. What damage the promotional tactics for his novel have done should sadden all of us.
