Posing for Holy Pictures

One of the things that really struck my wife and I as odd were the people with the cell phone cameras taking pictures of the Pope when they got to the front of the line. When my wife first mentioned this, I asked, "What, are they turning around pointing over their shoulder at the Pope and saying, Hi Mom"? I then did my best impression of the idiots who will run down to the seats behind home plate at Miller Park with a cell phone in their ear, wave at the camera, and then run back up to the section where they belong (usually with the poor people in the 400 level seats).

I guess I don't have the imagination of some people. Yes, you too can have a picture of the Pope lying in state for your mantle. You can put it right next to your John Paul II bobblehead. Not quite in bad enough taste for you? Let's add Jesus to your picture of the late John Paul II.

By the way, since the funeral is way past my bed time, I've decided to tape it. Don't tell me how it ends.
