It's free agent time, boys and girls!

So far, the Cowboys have lost a major part of their defense the last few years, Dexter Coakley. One day after being released by the 'Boys, the Rams ink him for 5 years, $14.5 million, according to the Dallas Cowboys website. This is one of those deals that, while it hurts in your gut as a fan, you know the Cowboys probably did the right thing.

Meanwhile, we still have two, count 'em two, first round draft picks. The Cowboys have signed cornerback Anthony Henry, a three-year starter in Cleveland, are probably going to announce signing defensive tackle Jason Ferguson (formerly of the Jets) and will probably get Packer offensive guard Marco Rivera.

Meanwhile, Washington Redskins linebacker and leading tackler Antonio Pierce has fled to the Giants. To make matters worse:
[Starting Cornerback Fred] Smoot's situation remained in doubt last night, but the feeling around Redskins Park earlier was that the team was more likely to keep Pierce than Smoot.
oops. Laveranues Coles is still an ongoing soap opera, and Tony Kornheiser has suggested the team just let him go.

Life is good.
