WISN's Weber & Dolan this morning, they were discussing rock bands and Motley Crue when Bob Dolan mentioned the wildest concerts he ever attended were ELO and the Kinks. And he was bored stiff. For some reason, I'm taking this personally. (ELO is one of the great rock acts of the 70s, and by far my favorite band.)
I can't decide if I should feel insulted because, a) a fan of Steve & Edie and Andy Williams dared to describe ELO as boring, or, b) a Neil Diamond fan considers ELO safe to attend. This is really rubbing me the wrong way and I can't quite put my finger on why.
Wildest concert I ever attended? Depends on the definition of "attended." I partied in the parking lot at a Ratt/Poison concert and that was pretty wild. Never made it inside. Joe Walsh threw together a band at the last minute and opened for Night Ranger at Summerfest. And I saw Kiss on their first reunion tour.
For the record, I saw ELO in concert once. It was a lot better than most concerts I've seen since.
