Ohio Man

I honestly thought the reference was to how Jerry Springer is taking over the Democratic party in Ohio. After all, he is their Democrat of the Year. But there really is a "Jerry Springer the Opera." According to Springer, "The whole show is tongue-in-cheek." I think we can term whatever celebrates Springer a tragedy - and a farce. Hopefully Ohioans will do better than inflict that tragedy on the rest of us, because that truly would be obscene.

I met Springer once prior to a taping of his show. I was to be in the audience and not a guest. I won't mention the episode but I'm pretty easy to spot. I wore a tie, which shows how much I knew about the program before I got tickets. We were there early and Jerry stopped by the line into the studio. He said to us, "I can't believe how much they pay me to do this show." It was almost like a conman confessing right before he took another sucker's life savings.
