Marquette University to drop Catholic affiliation

Father Robert A. Wild, president of Marquette University, announced today Marquette University is dropping it's identification as a Catholic University.

"Let's face it. We have a few Catholics on the staff and even most of them aren't practicing. We invite speakers that endorse abortion. We promote the homosexual lifestyle. If we didn't have the Gesu church next door most people would have a hard time distinguishing us from a state university."

When asked what the students thought, he said, "The student government is all for it. I don't think anyone else will even notice."

Father Wild also assured the university community that the transition will not be disruptive to campus life. "Students and faculty will notice no change whatsover."
