Perspective lost

A left-wing activist commenting here explains that a violent, racist attack on someone fighting for civil rights in the 1960s is the equivalent of the nineteen-month difference of opinion between JB Van Hollen and the Government Acccountability Board. Nineteen months difference between the point where the GAB would enforce the law and the point the Attorney General is suing to enforce, and that is the equivalence of racial violence to deny people the right to vote. A difference of nineteen months in the enforcement of a law that would not disenfranchise one voter. That is what I mean by a complete loss of perspective, not to mention completely insulting to the memory of those who truly fought for civil rights.

I'd be completely embarrassed to make such an argument, but I suspect the political left is beyond embarrassment or shame on this issue.
