Goodbye Andy

Waukesha County Supervisor Andy Kallin died yesterday from cancer. He was fifty years old.

In the short time that I knew him, I really liked Andy. We didn't always agree, but I knew his heart was in the right place. Shortly after the mayoral primary he stopped by house to make sure I got a yard sign for the county supervisor race. His defeat in the race for mayor hadn't diminished his love of campaigning, and he was determined to carry on as a county supervisor.

He took talking to constituents seriously, campaigned on his feet, and served the public until the end. We could use a few more politicians like Andy.

I still have my Andy Kallin for County Supervisor yard sign. I think I'll put it out tonight when I get home.
