Bumper sticker romance

Marc Eisen in the Isthmus almost spilled his overpriced coffee when he saw the following bumpersticker on State Attorney General candidate JB Van Hollen's car: "I My Wife." (ht: Jessica McBride) Unfortunately, the car wasn't crushed under a giant can of Milwaukee's Best.

I suppose it's a lot better than "I my wife" which, besides being insulting, would be a lot more information than I want to know. Of course, being a politician, there would be some irony in "I My Wife" as in, "When did you stop ing your wife?" But I don't think Wisconsin is quite ready for a politician with that level of humor yet. Massachusetts Senator John Kerry could get a bumper sticker with "I $ My Wife" and I think everyone would get it.

We might even suggest some other bumper stickers for politicians.
Courting the women's vote? "My opponent bought his wife an iron for Xmas."
Politician in Utah: "I my wives."
NRA member with softer, gentler side: "I my wife's deer rifle."
Peg Lautenschlager: "I my state car."
Governor Doyle: "I casino money."
Kathleen Falk: "I police videos."

But the all-time classic actually belonged to Congressman Jim Sensenbrenner, "Wife and Dog Missing. Reward for Dog." His wife thought it was hilarious.
